Feature Image: Quidi Vidi

Image Details: Quidi Vidi is a very small village in the heart of St. John’s Newfoundland. It is quaint seemingly under any lighting conditions. This shot is the exit of the small harbour into St. John’s Bay facing into the eastern sky. This geographical advantage allows the sun rising daily in the east to cast the village and it’s shores in magnificent early morning light. At six am the sun was already climbing quickly but I attached a Lee filter to my camera and took about a 90 second exposure at f22. I liked the result and especially the capture of the warm light that was coming from the sun at that time which a half hour earlier was a crimson red.
